Important Information

At Bleakhouse Primary School the health, safety and welfare of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do.

Safe use of the internet is important for all children and young people and at Bleakhouse we ensure that pupils’ use of the internet is supported by a member of staff and e-safety education forms part of our curriculum.

Technology is constantly changing and is a pivotal part of life. We feel that it is essential not only to show the pupils how to safeguard themselves whilst using this fantastic learning resource but also to work with parents.

Parents can help by ensuring that pupils are not accessing inappropriate material at home by way of filters and parental controls. If your children share your phone or a tablet with others at home you may like to think about what permissions you give them, to ensure they’re not accidentally exposed to age-inappropriate content.

The information sheet below is not specifically aimed at our pupils. However, we feel it is necessary to make you aware of this new app, as most of our pupils have older siblings.  MyLOL – a site which specifically facilitates interaction between 13 to 19-year-olds.

Please read the information from National Online Safety about MyLOL. Further guidelines, hints and tips for adults can be found at https://nationalcollege.com/parents
